Frequently asked questions
What are the most useful Spanish phrases for travel?
Start with greetings and politeness (hola, por favor, gracias, disculpe), then the questions you'll ask most: how much it costs, where the bathroom is, and how to ask for the check. After that, learn the phrases for the places you will use most, such as the airport, hotel and restaurant.
Are Spanish phrases the same in Spain and Mexico?
Mostly. The differences are in some everyday words, such as “billete” in Spain and “boleto” in Mexico for a ticket. Either form is usually understood, but it helps to learn the one used where you are going.
How can I practice these phrases?
Read each sample conversation aloud and play both parts. In Scenio you can tap any line to hear it, see the English, and rehearse with an AI partner who plays the other role. The AI role-play is part of Premium.
Is there an app that tells me the Spanish word for something I photograph?
Yes. Scenio is an iPhone and iPad app that does this: photograph an object or a scene, and it shows the Spanish word, its pronunciation and example sentences, plus phrases you might say and hear in that place. It's free to start and needs no account.
