About Scenio
What is Scenio?
Scenio is an iPhone and iPad app for learning vocabulary and phrases from photos. You photograph an object or a scene, and it shows the word, its pronunciation and example sentences, plus the phrases you might say and hear in that place. It supports 25 languages.
Is Scenio a translator?
Scenio is built for learning. You photograph an object or a place, and it teaches you the word, how it sounds and the phrases people use there, then keeps them for review. For translating a document or a conversation, a translation app is the right tool.
What if it gets the word wrong?
Recognition can miss. You can edit the word on the result screen before you save it, and the examples and phrases follow your correction.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. It is rated 4+, has no ads and no social features, and works without an account.
Is Scenio the same as SightWord?
Yes. The app was called SightWord until September 2026. Same app, new name.
Is it the same app as Scenio: Photo & Video Show?
No. That is an unrelated slideshow app.
Price
What does it cost?
It's free to download, with daily photos and one full Atlas lesson in every scene. Premium is monthly or yearly, and the yearly plan has a 3-day free trial. Prices are in the App Store.
Privacy
Where do my photos go?
Recognition needs the internet. A photo is sent to our servers and passed to an AI vision provider only to identify what's in it. Scenio doesn't store your photos on its servers. There is no account and there are no ads. Your collection lives on your device, and Premium members can sync it through their own iCloud.
Devices & languages
Does it work offline?
Recognition and AI conversations need a connection. Saved words stay available, English and Spanish word cards work offline, and on iOS 18 or later supported languages can be read aloud on your device.
Which languages can I learn?
25, including English (US and UK), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Pick any native and learning pair, except two variants of the same language.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 or later. An Android version is coming soon.
Is there an Android version?
Scenio supports iPhone and iPad today (iOS 17+). An Android version is coming soon.
Speaking practice
Can I practise speaking with Scenio?
Yes. Every Atlas scene has a sample conversation. Premium members can role-play the whole conversation with an AI partner and ask for a hint when stuck. Scenio does not score pronunciation.
Scenio vs other apps
How is Scenio different from Speak or Duolingo?
Duolingo and Speak are built around a course. Scenio starts from what you photograph and the place you are going: learn the words and phrases for that scene, then rehearse the conversation.
